Imagine enjoying the big game in an outdoor living room complete with a fireplace, comfy furniture, and a state-of-the-art screen. Or playing pool in a swanky billiards room, enjoying an onsite salon, and savoring restaurant-quality meals prepared for you daily.
All this and much more will describe life at Belle Harbour — a 142,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care center that is expected to open in spring 2022 at 2110 116th Ave. N.E. in Bellevue.
The $93 million project will offer 149 senior living suites and create 120 jobs. The facility will span 2.89 acres and provide two distinct communities: The Park at Belle Harbour for assisted-living folks, and The Inn at Belle Harbour for those needing memory care.
The communities will be connected via two sky bridges.
“This is a real crown jewel for the city of Bellevue. It is unique, and it comes from our family with over 60 years of experience,” Aaron Koelsch, president and CEO of Koelsch Communities, said in a press release.
Koelsch has a passion for serving elders and continuing his parents’ legacy to provide them top-notch care and enjoyable retirement.
Koelsch was a boy when his family moved into the basement of the first Koelsch Community in 1958. He grew up learning the business by living it. Now, this third-generation family business has 35 communities in eight states. Six more, including Bellevue’s, are in development.
Bellevue’s location will be nautically themed and highlight Bellevue’s maritime ties.
Koelsch aims to builds communities residents want to live in and grandkids want to visit; many feature restaurants, fitness centers, libraries, and more.
The memory care area at the new Bellevue location is unique. Since memory care residents often recall the past even more vividly than the present, this area will incorporate historical surprises throughout, like a 1950s car in the courtyard and curio cabinets full of items from the past.
There will additionally be a cozy Jack’s Cabin where games can be played by a fire. A kitchen feature — Emma’s 1950s Kitchen — resembles a real 1950s cooking area where iced tea can be sipped. Interior courtyards will be secure and allow folks to plant veggies and flowers or simply enjoy nature safely. There also will be a general store where residents can “make purchases” and have a sense of normalcy and independence.
